Tactical Analysis:

Torres is considered to be a great player with his excellence in every aspect of the game.

Space Recognition: Torres is so good with recognizing space to make a run and dash towards the goal.

Finding Space b/w Defenders: Torres scores lots of goals by making runs in between the defenders.

Awareness: Torres is aware of his surroundings, he checks his shoulders to keep eye on opponents, his teammates and free space. He also tracks down the position and movement of opponents.

Creating Space inside the Box: Torres creates space inside the box by making quick runs in the opposite direction of the defense. He looks for the space inside the box to get an opening.

The Free Kick Taker: He is 1st choice of the team for taking free kicks. His Knuckle ball technique of taking free kicks is quite sexy and the movement of the ball is so good that if the ball goes in the net , then it’s an exquisite goal. Knuckle ball technique is used by very few players.

Diagonal Runs: Torres makes diagonal runs to free himself from the defenders. This technique makes it very difficult for the defenders to either mark him or tackle him.

Insane Dribbling Skills: Torres is arguably one of the best in the world when it comes to dribbling and one-on-one take-ons. Because of his dribbling skills, he was called show pony at Manchester United.

Torres is overall a great player.

Weaknesses:

Fernando Torres is a complete attacking monster. But his defensive contribution is on the weak side. He plays forward and very rarely comes back for defence.

Ronaldinho

Ronaldo de Assis Moreira, commonly known as Ronaldinho Gaucho or simply Ronaldinho, is a Brazilian former professional footballer and ambassador for Barcelona. He played mostly as an attacking midfielder, but was also deployed as a forward or a winger. Often considered one of the best players of his generation and regarded by many as one of the greatest of all time. He was renowned for his technical skills and creativity; due to his agility, pace and dribbling ability, as well as his use of tricks, feints, overhead kicks, no-look passes and accuracy from free-kicks.

Accomplishments:

Ronaldinho won two FIFA World Player of the Year awards and a Ballon d’Or.  In his second season with Barcelona, he won his first FIFA World Player of the Year award,  as Barcelona won the 2003–04 La Liga title. The season that followed is considered one of the best in his career as he was integral in Barcelona winning the UEFA Champions League, their first in fourteen years, as well as another La Liga title, giving Ronaldinho his first career double. After scoring two spectacular solo goals in the first 2005-06 El Clasico, Ronaldinho became the second Barcelona player, after Diego Maradona in 1983, to receive a standing ovation from Real Madrid fans at the Santiago Bernabéu. Ronaldinho also received his second FIFA World Player of the Year award, as well as the Ballon d’Or.

Ronaldinho accumulated numerous other individual awards in his career. He was included in the UEFA Team of the Year and the FIFA World XI three times, named UEFA Club Footballer of the Year in 2006 and the South American Footballer of the Year in 2013, and was named in the FIFA 100, a list of the world’s greatest living players compiled by Pelé.

Ronaldinho was an integral part of the 2002 FIFA World Cup-winning team in Korea and Japan, starring alongside Ronaldo and Rivaldo in an attacking trio, and being named in the FIFA World Cup All-Star Team. As captain, he led Brazil to their second FIFA Confederations Cup title in 2005 and was named Man of the Match in the final.

Tactical Analysis:

Ronaldinho’s excellence in game doesn’t need any analysis yet let’s talk about it;

Delayed Runs from Midfield: Ronaldinho scores lots of his goals by using this technique where he delays his runs from the midfield and allows the defenders to take their positions. And once the defenders are settled around other players, he makes late runs inside the box to score goals.

Space Recognition: Ronaldinho’s awareness of not only space but the opponent’s defenders also is amazing. He recognizes spaces quickly and also keeps checking his surroundings to see the movements of the opponents defenders.

Creating spaces for teammates: Ronaldinho is biggest weapon. The opposition only tries to stop Ronaldinho when he has the ball which leaves his teammates unmarked and so it creates lots of chances to score as he passes the ball.

The Free Kick Taker: Ronaldinho is team’s 1st choice for taking free kicks and why he wouldn’t be. He is so good in converting the dead ball into the goal.

Vision/Creativity: Roaldinho’s vision of the game, pitch , teammates and opponents is so good. He looks for the chance and creates creative passes.

King of Dribbling: Ronaldinho is the king of dribbling. His ball control is so good. His dribble ratio is far beyond the reach of any other player. His dribbling skill helps him a lot in moving the ball up.

There’s a lot to talk about Ronaldinho !

Weaknesses:

Ronaldinho’s height is a factor in his weakness. Due to his short height, he is not so good with headers. Even though he jumps, but his conversion rate is not so good. He is also not very good with crosses. And he is also physically weak.

Despite all his weaknesses, Ronaldinho’s performance is always top class. And his weaknesses don’t affect the results.

Philipp Lahm

Philipp Lahm is a German retired professional footballer who played as a right back or defensive midfielder and spent much of his early career playing left back. Although Lahm is right-footed, he is able to play on both sides of the pitch, due to his tactical intelligence and versatility. He often cut from the flank to the inside of the pitch to either shoot and/or pass.  In particular, he is renowned for his pace, technique, stamina, and precise tackling abilities, as well as his small stature, which earned him the nickname the “Magic Dwarf”. Lahm is considered by many to be one of the best defenders of his generation and one of the greatest defenders of all time

Accomplishments:

Lahm was included in the World Cup team of the tournament in 20062010, and 2014, and the UEFA Team of the Tournament in 2008 and 2012 and in the UEFA Team of the Year 2006, 2008, 2012, 2013 and 2014.

Lahm was the captain of Bayern Munich, having led them to numerous honors including the 2013 UEFA Champions League as part of the Treble. He was also a former captain of his national team, which he led to win the 2014 FIFA World Cup, before retiring from international football.

On 8 December 2017, Lahm was named honorary ambassador for Germany’s bid to host the UEFA Euro 2024.

Tactical Analysis:

The German King of defenders is regarded as one of the best defenders of the world. Following of his attributes combine to make him such an exquisite player.

Deep Playmaker: Because of his excellent range of passing, Lahm also plays the role of a deep playmaker for his team. He has the vision to recognize spaces and movements and passing range to pick his man from deep. He plays a perfect ball behind the opposition’s defensive line to pick his player, with perfect assumption of the movement and timing of the player.

Breaking the lines: Lahm’s biggest strength is his control on the ball and he uses it effectively to break the opposition lines. Lahm is very confident on the ball and that’s why he is never afraid to move out from his line and carry the ball up.

Defensive Cover: As a defender, you always should be a pessimist and you should always expect the worst and be ready to face it. You can only provide defensive cover if u are a pessimist. A CB should always expect the worst and should be ready to provide the cover to his FBs.

Resisting the Press: Lahm always used his excellent control to resist the opponent press. He so calmly plays the ball even the opponent player is right over him.

Threat in the Opposition Box: Lahm is a great threat in the opposition goal box because of his aerial strength and control.

Philipp Lahm’s excellent control, passing range and reading of the game makes him one of the best centre backs in the world.

Weaknesses:

Lahm’s height is a factor in his weakness. Due to his short height, he is not so good with headers. Even though he jumps, but his conversion rate is not so good. He is also not very good with crosses. And he is also physically weak.

Tactical Analysis:

Let’s talk about the tactical gameplay of the Italian legend, he is considered one of the top players because of his impact on and off the pitch, with and without the ball.

Off the ball movement: Pirlo is one of those few palyers who can create a big impact without even touching the ball. He created open space for his teammates to make a run for the goal and created all sorts of issues for opposition full back.

SCANNING SPACE: He played with the presence of mind and always scanned the pitch and continuously looked for the gaps between the opposition defensive line. Thus looking for an opening to attack the opposition goal. He scanned his surroundings and know the positins of the opponents and estimated the time he’ll have on the ball.

Creating passing lanes: One of the strongest qualities of Pirlo is the ability to create passing lanes in tight spaces and making himself available for the pass.

Ball Retention: Pirlo is one of the best when it comes to retaining the ball and resisting the press. He had a magnetic control over the ball and could dribble pass 3,4 players at a time.

Weaknesses:

Pirlo’s physical attributes are not remarkable, although what he lacks in pace, strength and height, he makes up for in intelligence and guile.
